Let us help you succeed
As passionate shepherds ourselves, we understand the challenges that come with raising sheep. We want to work alongside you to identify deficits in genetics or production practices and develop a comprehensive plan to help you achieve your goals. Careful planning can help prevent common problems and reduce the impacts of the unforeseen. Our consulting services cover a wide range of topics. The foundation of our services is a proven flock health and management plan that addresses the needs of each class of sheep throughout the year, from birth to market, and everything in between. Additional benefits are achieved when this is combined with a whole-farm management plan that considers forage production throughout the year, grazing practices, facilities and handling system layout, and animal husbandry as an entire system.
As a client, you will enjoy the benefit of in-person visits and taking the time to understand your current operation and your goals. We can also provide hands-on training to teach you necessary animal husbandry skills. We then create a unique plan tailored to you. All the planning in the world doesn't prevent the unexpected from occurring. We are just a phone call away during these stressful events. These benefits mean peace of mind and increased profitability for you.
Each plan is client-specific and customizable, so please call for pricing.

Hands-on Teaching We understand that some aspects of farming cannot be taught at a distance. We offer in-person teaching to clients during times when other visitors are not normally welcomed. This includes busy lambing times as well as "sheep working" days. Learn proper and efficient techniques for evaluating parasite load, giving vaccines, deworming, hoof trimming, castrating, and more. We can also do farm visits to teach you and your crew how to work your sheep in your own facilities.

"Jim has not only been a good producer and supplier of sheep, but has also become a mentor and friend. He has been more than willing to help any time when I have questions and has been very informative and clear in his communication. They are more than fair in their prices and advice. Jim will guide you through how to select good breeding stock and help you to understand what to look for in hair sheep. Because of my experience with Yellowbird Farms, I have been able to excel as a shepherd and plan to continue in the sheep industry."
